Case Study - Dehydration
System for Vegetables |
As a turn-key project for a client in China,
Juran manufactured and installed a vegetable
dehydration system. |
The project's objective was the realization of
the client's vision to produce and supply dried
vegetables to leading international food
companies such as Nestle, McCormick and others. |
Starting with research and feasibility studies
of the client's needs, strengths and
limitations, the project focused on
custom-developing the most appropriate and
efficient final product. |
Research included identifying cheaper energy
sources for running factory equipment,
investigating the region's humidity conditions,
and understanding local methods for transporting
vegetables from field to factory. |
Work began on the factory, which was built
according to Juran's design and
guidelines (BRC standards). Once completed, we
began the process of transporting system
components from our factory to the client site,
and installing the system. |
With the system installed and all lines
assembled, we stared several weeks of run-in
tests. During this period, while testing the
lines, we provided the factory staff with OJT
training. This included operating the lines with
a variety of types of vegetables and learning
the necessary maintenance procedures to ensure
continuous and best operation. |
Upon completion of the project, our client owned
a system for the year-round manufacture of 2.5
ton/hour of onions, carrots, tomatoes, chilly,
red pepper and more. The client enjoys the
ongoing dedicated support and guidance of
Juran to ensure his reaping full benefit
from the system. |
The bottom line is, through our experience,
knowhow and ability to implement turn-key
projects throughout the world, we enabled our
client to make his vision a reality. |
